I have a cement floor on the lower level of my home. I would like to finish it with tile, however it is very uneven & I would like to know how to create a level surface for the floor tiles.
There are a number of products on the market which can be used to level uneven floors. For example: you could have a "self leveling grout", a pourable cement product, installed on top of the uneven floor. This would make a good base for the tile.
An important factor in any work on a floor, is the integrity of the base. In this case, I would want to make sure the the uneven floor is a stable base for any leveling or flooring work. The leveling and flooring materials are not capable of "fixing" an underlying problem.
This would also be a good time to add any floor insulation.
