Is it Ok to use salt to melt ice on a pressure treated deck.
The salt will leave a white dust/stain on the deck. This will usually wash off with water. I am not aware of any other problems in using salt to melt ice on a treated deck.
However, please keep in mind that this information is being provided by a resident of Seattle. We tend to be experts about: moss, mold, carpenter ants, wood rot and other problems related to water in liquid and vapor form. Most of the ice around here is inside our freezers.
